GOLGOTHA
The place where Christ was crucified
John 19:17 "And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of the skull which is called in Hebrew. "Golgotha"
Mentioned three times by the gospel writers, so it must bear some significance to another event?
Perhaps another Bible event ?
You may remember this story from Sunday School - David and Goliath in I Samuel 17-54 Now Goliath was a Philistinian giant from the city of Gath in the midst of what would be present day Israel. Goliath was a brazen giant calling out for any Israelite to challenge him to the death. The spoils of the victor, would be national servitude
As you may recall David picked up a small pebble and use his sling to fire it Goliath which struck him in the forehead toppling him. David then too Goliath's own sword and beheaded him.
Now here's the connection to Golgotha, the Bible states at the end of the story that David took the head of Goliath in to Jerusalem. Which was a Jebusite strong hold at the time, so he must of displayed Goliath's head just outside of the city as a "sign" declaring to the Jebusites that Israel's god is a conquering God . A God who will conquer sin and death at this very site.
